The website's readership skews conservative politically, but oddly enough, the majority of readers live in the liberal "Blue" states that traditionally vote Democratic - the Mid-Atlantic, the West Coast, Washington DC, the industrial Midwest, southern New England and the urban South. And then there's Texas.

It's no surprise that California has the largest share of readers (12.1%), followed closely by New York (11.7%). But the DC Metro Area (Washington plus Maryland and Northern Virginia) accounts for a whopping 11% of readers, on a much smaller population base - this due to the website's strong following in government, the press, and business, among thinkers and policy-makers.

In the East, Connecticut, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey make a strong showing, as do Oregon and Washington State in the West. The Rust-Belt states of the Midwest provide a solid mid-continent base, led by Illinois (5.0%), Ohio (2.9%) and Michigan (2.4%). Florida (3.2%), Georgia (2.5%) and North Carolina (1.9) bring up the South. Texas holds its own at 6.0%. And Ontario leads Canada with its 1.3% share.
